Who knew two years ago that the 4th Street Poker Tour would be celebrating it's 3rd Annual No Limit Texas Smoke 'Em? Well I did, but that I'm sure most everyone else who was invited to this "home game" had no idea that this thing would be this strong for this long.
For those of you that are new to the 4th St. family and do not know the story of origin, here is a quick recap: Two years ago for my birthday, the First Lady surprised me with all the gear
neccessary to run a successful poker game. We held a BBQ/poker event titled No
Limit Texas Smoke 'Em that turned out to be the genesis of the 4SPT.
Since that time the Tour has expanded beyond all expectations:
- We started out with a one table tourney and now fill 4 tables weekly
- We outgrew the Evite and created this website
- We were recognized by the WPT in our first year and now I'm employed by them
- Two of our own played in the $10,000 World Series Main Event
- Several of our players have cashed online in for thousands of dollars
- We created our own sportsbook
- We've given out more than $50,000 in 4SPT winnings
- We created our own merchandise, proudly worn by players across the country
- We serendipitously met the Wicked Chops guys from Atlanta and have maintained a strong poker relationship with them
- We've been hired by outside organizations to run their tournaments
- Most importantly, we've made a great bunch of friends
The BBQ is our thanks to you for all the support and contributions
that have been made to help make this Tour the success that it is.
And if there's one thing I do better than run a poker tournament, it's barbeque...
The Details
The No Limit Texas Smoke 'Em III will feature 4th
Street Poker Tour regulars and will be the final battle ground to
determine the 2006 Spring Season Champion of Champions. This major
tournament event will be held this Saturday, May 27th at The Complex.
The Barbeque - 2pm
The day will begin with a barbeque at 2pm. I will be smoking at least the following - ribs, tri-tip, chicken, shrimp. If you want hamburgers, hot dogs, or *gasp* vegetarian
products, please bring your own and I'll be happy to throw it on the
grill.
In order for the bbq to be a success, we are relying on all of you to bring side dishes. If you are showing up to the bbq, please bring something with you like
a salad, veggie platter, chips, fruit salad, potato salad, or whatever
else you can think of. And bring enough to share. The 4SPT is a family,
and we want this to feel like a real family gathering.
All of the sauces, rubs, slathers, and marinades will all be
made by Slim. And the meat will all be slow cooked (the true
definition of barbeque) on my smoker(s).
The 4SPT Awards - 3:30pm
During the barbeque we will
reveal the various winners of the 4SPT awards. Remember, every vote
counts! So if you haven't voted yet, please do so here.
The Tournament - 4pm
After we completely put you into a meat coma, we'll start the tournament at 4pm. Entry fee is $30 ($25 to the main pot, $5 to the Smoke 'Em on a Skewer). Payout will be determined once all fees are collected.
Smoke 'Em on a Skewer
$5 of your entry fee will go towards a special Spring Season and
end-of-year headhunter's bounty - Smoke 'Em on a Skewer. This time
around, you'll be trying to smoke the top five
from the Spring Season and the top 5 from the Overall Player standings. Of course, some of
these players are so good, they are on each list - so you'll get a
little extra for taking one of them down.
Players and percentages will be determined after Thursday's Spring Season Finale.
