"You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em..." - The Gambler, Kenny Rogers
...and in the case of Josh, you also gotta know when to show 'em. "The Rookie" made another rookie mistake Thursday night. First to act on fifth street, he decided to flip over his cards and show his two pair to Charles. In almost an exact repeat of a play a couple of weeks ago, Charles moved all-in on the exposed hand, only this time he was called and sent home 5 mins into the tournament. This move by Josh has lead some to speculate that the play 3 weeks ago was part of his strategy - just setting Charles up for this week. Seems to have worked. Others, however, still believe that's just what you have to prepare for when you face "The Rookie" and that his name should be changed to "The Fifth Street Flipper."
Speaking of new nicknames, Kevin, our newest champion, has been coined "Seattle Slew" after he broke away from the back of the pack and turned it on down the home stretch to finish in the winner's circle. It was an impressive win for the newcomer, as he has only been on the 4th Street Tour for 2 weeks. In the battle of first time heads-up players, Kevin took out Keith "The Cooler," who held his own until pocket AQ failed him twice. I think Keith needs to listen to the rest of the Gambler cuz "You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table," as some are questioning his judgment to ask for a picture of "me and all my chips" just before entering the final showdown with Seattle.
