It was the night of the Aces last night at The Complex. If you didn’t make it, then you missed out on two phenomenal hands that prove why No Limit Hold ‘Em is truly the Cadillac of Poker. The night started off with a bang, as 10 minutes in we saw a hand featuring two of last week’s top place finishers – Charles (1st) and Johnny C (3rd). The flop hit 10 A 10. Charles, who had Johnny C sitting to his left, was first to act. As he fired a bet into the pot, he was quickly re-raised by Johnny C. Without hesitation, Charles reached for his chips and fired back with another re-raise. In turn, Johnny C re-raised again. Charles shook his head and said, “It’s too bad we have to do this so early” and pushed his chips All-In. Johnny C quickly called. As Charles confidently flipped over A 10, he was devastated to see Johnny C show the only hand that could beat his 10s full of Aces – pocket Aces. By knocking Charles out, Johnny C guaranteed that once again there would be no repeat winner on the 4th Street Poker Tour and, in fact, went on to earn himself his first Tour win. The other big hand of the night happened at the Final Table. I had a pretty good hand, so I raised before the flop. Almost every player called my bet. When the monster flop hit A A A, everyone checked to “Papa” Marc Cahill, who fired 10 chips into the pot. The rest of the players folded and after rechecking my hand, I called his bet. The turn brought a Jack. Before fourth street even hit the table, Marc threw 20 chips into the pot. I sighed, looked at my chips, back at my cards - and decided to call. When a King came on the river, Marc looked at my remaining chip stack and put me All-In. When it was time to show the cards, I flipped only the Jack – showing Aces full of Jacks. Marc leapt out of his chair and slammed down his pocket Kings, making Aces full of Kings. As the crowd went wild, I calmly flipped the only card that could beat him – the fourth Ace… In the Money 14 players - 2 tables - pot $280
1st - $160 Johnny C 2nd - $60 Aletha “I Want to Go Home” 3rd - $40 Jeff “Complex Slim” 4th - $20 Kevin “Seattle Slew”
