Short Stacking and Other Things

First thing I would like to say is thank you to Jeff and Jenn for giving us the 4th Street Poker Tour. I would also like to thank all the players who make the Tour such a wonderful weekly experience. I never imagined when Carmel told me about this little game what I was in for. The level, style, and challenge of every person on the Tour surprises me each and every week.

Now I am not sure if am I one who should be listened to when it comes to this game. I have only been playing for a little over a year and most of my style goes against common poker theory. I have come to learn what the basic requirements of a poker player are; a good poker play must be unconventionally wise and educated. This is not a game of chance or luck, regardless of its impact, but something that takes many personal characteristics to succeed. It surprises me more and more as I watch the professional big dogs on television how educated they all are. You obviously need math skills, but that is just the start. My favorites players have degrees in Game theory, psychology, and mathematics.

Spring Season Game 6 Recap

Max was a Factor on 4^th Street yet again as he rocked and rolled his way to his second 4SPT win. Unlike his first win when he had to pull a Rocky Balboa and come all the way back from a chip and a chair, the Factor used the strength of a large chip stack and the mysterious power of his lucky rock to dominate the tournament from start to finish.

Winter Season Game 8 Recap

“A chip and a chair.” Of course we’ve all heard it before. In fact, it’s probably the second most used phrase on the Tour (right behind “It’s a race!”). Heck, we even have a player loosely nicknamed after it (good ol’ 2-Trick).

We'd especially like to thank Zak and Nancy for hosting an amazing party. I'd assume that even a real Club Med vacation couldn't get much better than the event we had last night - we even had servers! Speaking of which, a big thanks to Ashley and Serena for all their help.
