While waiting outside for my ride after busting out I was, as anyone
would expect, feeling like total shit. Like something out of a movie,
who comes strolling outside to light a cigar but Johnny Chan. I said
something to the tune of "Hey, you give poker lessons?" He tells me, "I
think I should take them from you. I'm out too"
We proceeded to talk for about ten minutes until my ride came. He
was into talking about politics and what not, which I try to stay away
from. But at the end of the conversation he mentioned how shitty it was
the day you get knocked out of the main event. I told him it might be
worse for me, since I don't have his bankroll and may not make it back
to The Big One in some time. He told me, "Hey, I'd trade you my
bankroll for your age."
That made me feel a bit better, although I did try to conjur up a way in my head to make the deal happen.
Anyway, as I was just about to get into the car I heard him say "Kid! Your young. Remember that."
The pain of getting busted still lingers and will for quite some
time, but Chan's words will resonate with me forever. And if I take
nothing else away from the weekend but my Milwaukee's Best Light All-In
Chip and those sentiments from Chan, that's enough to keep shit in
persepective and make me want to work even harder on my game to make
sure I get back there.
Sorry for the sappy post, and thanks for everyone's continued support. GO VON.
