In the spirit of Rivalry Week I decided to post some WSD vs. TBC stats. I will also note that titALating of the WSD has submitted the official WSD roster which is as follows:
- Shock G
- Sir Pick
- The Most
- Storm
- ALternate (titALating)
- Max
The following then would not be considered WSD members and if they should make a Final Table would not warrant a post from Shock G claiming that they dominated the FT or a comment that this is a "WSD home game" (always a favorite of mine):
- Rabbit Eater
- Brandon
- Eastwood (making his return this week)
- Dave
And here is the TBC Crew. Which by the way is not only Richie Rich as much as they proclaim it to be. The Maneater has been carrying just as much weight for that crew as their fearless leader has. They both have 3 wins in the last 2 seasons (one of Richie's was a major):
- Richie Rich
- Maneater
- Jun
- Mad Dog
- The Kelvin
- Ken

As a point of comparison, if you take the top performing Complexers - Slim (6), Cooler (5), C-Mint (5), First Lady (3), Pibb (1) - we have 20 wins and 2 majors. Last year, Jeff and I were also 2nd and 3rd overall in points behind Player of the Year Richie Rich. Pick and Most were 4th and 5th.
Dog's Playing Poker would be our 6* player, but he doesn't add anything to our overall stats.

I would like to take this time to point out how tough all 4SPT regulars are. As Bill Walton would surely call it if he did play by play on Thursdays, "By far the toughest group of poker players in the history of the world!" Thanks Bill but we knew that already.

Agreed. I've always said, and will continue to say that I will put our "home game" up against any.
Sometimes people scoff when I say it's a $20 buy-in but buy-in $ does not = toughness.
Storm, I nominate the 4SPT as the T.G.T. of the Week.

All this crew solidarity makes me want to wear my Complex PK (Pat Kramer) armband to this Thursday's game.

As much as I appreciate being thrown under the proverbial "bus" with the Max thing, I was merely trying to clot the heavy flow of number skewing against my brethren. As far as talent and productivity, each crew has something they bring to the table. However, it is titillating to know that Gerrit's mindless babble actually has the ability to get under someone's skin. I've always dismissed it as garble and not much more.

Maxfield "The Factor" Slosser is, in fact, the founding father of The Westside Degenerates and should never be excluded from any Degenerate list. I believe Milesky was simply comparing Factor's current 'in absentia' status with Maneater's poor attendance record lately.
As for the home games, I have never attended a Complex home game, and I would love to someday. I have played in Richie's cash game and I must say that although it is brutal and I lost two buy-ins cleanly and without suckout, the Westside Degenerate weekend tourney is, without question the toughest game in town. Yeah, I said it. It happened. Anyone interested in disproving this claim is extended an open invitation from me, The Most, known on the Westside as 'Natsh 1B'.

OK Max is back in.
I wonder what it is that Eliot thinks he plays in every week?
Posted by: Slim | Monday, February 12, 2007 at 17:53
TitALator, I too am Titillated by that very thing.
But "garble"? That hurts me deep.
If I even knew what garble was, I'm sure it would hurt that much more.
And by the way, who is this "Max" guy everyone's talking about? Has he played lately? The guy we really forgot to put on our list was "Shock's Bitch". You know, that little guy who keeps getting sucked out on by runner-runner 5's. Heard he used to be pretty competitive. He should be included somewhere. It's only fair.

2nd toughest game. McGilla.

Far be it from me to disagree with the 4SPT's fearless leader, but if I make the entire 4SPT the Toughest Guy In Town. Than I'm not going to have many options in future weeks for T.G.T. Also everyone would include the Cooler and it's been decided that the Cooler can't be the T.G.T.
Posted by: Storm | Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 09:24
True. And we all have learned that the WSD are the toughest anyway so you should probably just rotate between whoever plays in the weekend game.
Posted by: Slim | Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 09:28
Man, I was hoping that I would be able to get part of the T.G.T through some sort of loophole in the system.

If Eastwood, Rabbit Eater, and Brandon don't count even though they are WSDs but just aren't regulars, then I'm thinking Ken, Kelvin, and Mad Dog can hardly be counted. As for April and Jun, I think they've collectively played 6 games this season.
Believe me, I need all the help I can get from my TBC brethen, but regulars versus regulars, it's hardly a direct comparison.
Not discounting wins by any means, but I like to think that the points, which culminate to seasons, would be the true benchmark. On that note, again, biggie ups to Al. Obviously, the best player this season and one of the best on the Tour.
I'm looking forward to the resurrection of the 4SPT crews. Ha. Just when we learned to all get along...
P.S. Gerrit didn't get under anyone's skin, he just woke the sleeping giant. ;)
P.P.S Max won twice? If I knew that, I would have quit poker by now.
Posted by: Richie Rich | Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 12:14
So our 3 regulars v. WSDs 6 regulars, we have 21 wins and they have 28. Shouldn't they have 42+?
Send it.

Don't ever wink at me again.
And be glad people have chosen not to count those guys, since that would be at least one more major (Rabbit) and one more season title (Eastwood) in our column - if my math is correct. (Could be more. Who knows?)
Plus, most of us have been around far less time than those of you in the TBC. Our numbers will double yours soon enough, don't you worry about it. Ha!
;) right back at ya. (I can NOT believe I just did that.)

We need to just make T-Shirts for our crews to end these meaningless shenanigans. If you get a T-shirt, you're part of the crew. If you're tangibly recognized as part of the crew, you'll be much more likely to show up each week. I have always felt that when life gives you lemons, you make personalized T-shirts.
I hearken back to my days as a drug-addled young man in northern Spain, willing to jump from bridges for small sums of euros and heroin. Everyone loved the 'Doner Kebab' joints located all over Europe. Sweet and juicy, the meat was cut right from the spit and placed gingerly into a delicious, warm pita. The point is, we loved these places so much, we really didn't know what to do with ourselves. Much like when your team wins the championship and you have already high-fived and drank with everyone in the bar, you eventually reach a point where you just kind of sit around with a twinkle in your eye and wait for your head to explode. Instead of doing that, we took the logo and put it on a T-shirt. We''l see who takes the initiative.

If I could, I would be proud to implement myself into the Westside Degenerates. What would I bring to the Table besides Donking off chips? 1 Major Win (2006 T.O.C.) and 3 Regular Tournament Wins. So let me know if you want to tip the scales a bit.

When exactly is the free agent/trade deadline? if there even is one.
Posted by: the cooler | Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 14:28
Thanks Al, and who invited Gerritt to the crew. The Pick and I never agreed on your membership. Richie let me also remind you thats every cash game we have played against each other I have made a lot of money from your walet. So please don't quit playing poker I am still waiting the return of the King's cash games and "My second job". I say we make these crew win totals even and remove G-sadness and return an OG member Brandon. That will tie everything up at 25 wins.
