Arriving to a packed house, Jennifer "The First Lady" and April "The Maneater" made their way to the registration. Never underestimate the pull of the 4SPT at major tournaments; just like Dino and Vaughn, our two ladies drew table assignments right next to each other so Richie Rich, Will Call, and I could keep an eye on the action.
Shuffle up and Deal
Our
ladies came out of the gate firing, as the First Lady scooped the very
first hand of the night and the Maneater steadily began to build her
stack with aggressive play. Early on both ladies were near the lead at
their respective tables until the First Lady's KJd flops top pair on a
board of J 8 7. The short stack at the table moved All-In and First
Lady called, but was beat by two pair, 8s and 7s. This move hurt the
First Lady's stack quite a bit, but she was able to stay alive and
battle for a little while longer. Moving All-In with AKo she was met
with a call from another AKo. Chopping the pot still left her short so
she made the All-In move again, this time with 7d7h. She was called by
AT and when a 10 flopped, her night was over.
Meanwhile, over at our other table, the Maneater was in complete control. Up through the first break she was running her table, putting herself in position as the table captain. Betting and betting and even more betting, she was going to make these ladies pay to show down a hand.
The Move
After
they broke her table, April was moved into the the main room where we
were unable to follow because there was a No Men Allowed rule. The
First Lady took over the reporting and came back with news that April
had just doubled her stack up to the $3,300 range with a King high
flush. Soon after, the Bike disallowed any non-players into the room,
so we lost the First Lady as our sideline reporter and could no longer
receive updates.
At the second break and down to 20 tables, the Maneater calls to report in that her stack is up to $6,800. A quick calculation puts her at 3 times the average stack! Great position to be at this point. When I asked her how she felt she said she was a little upset nobody called her on the river when she had quad 3s, but that was ok. She also said she was begining to target the short stacks at the table in order to increase her lead.
So Close!
About
1am, the Maneater reports that she just busted in 50th place out of
566. Top 45 paid. What an amazing showing for April! She definitely
made us proud!
Check back later as we hope to get more details from the Maneater about how she went out.
Represent
Overall,
it was a great night for the WPT and our Ladies of the 4SPT. Once again
we ran into our favorite WPT employee - Kat. Last year at this same
event we met Kat and she sent the 4SPT some serious WPT swag. Not only
did she remember us, but she said she keeps up-to-date with all the
4SPT madness by checking the site weekly. We look forward to having her
out someday soon.
Meanwhile, the 4SPT inches closer and closer to our first TV tournament Final Table. We will get there!
You forgot to mention the part about you and I getting harassed and treated like criminals by the Bike's security staff. Ha!
Nice job, ladies! I was proud to see pyramid chip stacking being employed.
