Spring Season Game 1 Recap
Controversy was a-brewin’ at the Massacre. Many players were
upset that High Noon took home the coveted “I Put Vonnnn Sannnndmannnn to Sleep”
t-shirt without actually doing so. It was Dr. Steve who earned the shirt but
High Noon somehow ended up with it at the end of the night…
This buzz spilled into the first game of the Spring Season
and fueled the fire for Susan who was hot all night. She made all the right
moves when she needed to, like calling Dino’s All-In with pocket 7s to knock him
out with her own pocket pair of 10s. And she was catching all the right cards
at the right times, like when she outdrew Jamie’s A8 when she turned a J
to pair her J10 and send Jamie home. Her play was impressive. And considering
the controversy that lingered, it seemed destined that she would ride into the heads
up showdown with Von Sandman.
Von Sandman’s journey to the end took a different route, as
he was down several times throughout the night. But in true Sandman fashion, he
picked the right spots to get his money in and even caught a few bounces here
and there to double up time and time again. He was on a mission to reclaim his
shirt and it was his timely moves that allowed him to meet Susan at High Noon
for the ultimate showdown.
As each player was preparing to take their 10 paces (and 10
points) to start the final duel, a railbird yelled out “Put the shirt in the
pot!” High Noon adamantly refused, sending the crowd into a frenzy. But it was
all for not, as High Noon flopped a straight with the J9 to cripple Von
Sandman’s lead. On the very next hand, she held the J9 again and made middle
pair when the flop came 8109. It was the Sandman who was now on the draw and
he moved All-In with J5, but High Noon was there to quickly pick him off and
her 9s held up through the turn and river.
With her first 4SPT win, High Noon simultaneously put the
t-shirt controversy and Von Sandman to sleep.
Hilarious! I love the railbird nod. Great recap!
